Natural Asset Inventory Service

A government authority in Lions Bay, British Columbia seeks a vendor to provide a comprehensive natural asset inventory service. The project entails developing a foundational and systematic spatial inventory of priority natural assets that can be managed alongside engineered infrastructure to support climate resilience, risk reduction, and long-term service delivery.

Key tasks include classifying and mapping natural assets such as forests, creeks, wetlands, shorelines, and other significant features while identifying the ecosystem services they provide, with an emphasis on climate resilience and hazard mitigation. The vendor will also perform a preliminary risk assessment of these assets regarding climate hazards like wildfires, flooding, slope failure, and sea level rise.

Additional responsibilities include providing actionable recommendations for integrating natural assets into the village’s asset management and climate action planning, building internal capacity among staff and council, and delivering outputs compatible with existing GIS systems and asset management tools. Assessing the condition and extent of priority assets is also required.
