The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, is announcing a Virtual Industry Day regarding upcoming construction projects at Fort Gillem, located in Forest Park, Georgia. These projects support the Military Criminal Investigative Organization Enterprise and involve the construction of a forensic laboratory (FXD Lab) and a General Purpose Warehouse serving as a DOD Law Enforcement Evidence and Data Repository (LEEDR), both directly supporting the Defense Forensic Science Center.
The primary facilities to be constructed include administration and laboratory spaces, facility support areas, a covered hardstand for mobile laboratory functions, organizational vehicle parking, installation of an Intrusion Detection System (IDS), a mass notification system, and Utility Monitoring and Control System (UMCS) connections. Supporting work comprises site development, utilities, limited backup power, lighting, paving, parking, storm drainage, information systems, landscaping, and signage. The design mandates heating and air conditioning via a self-contained system, integrated cybersecurity measures, and compliance with Department of Defense antiterrorism and force protection requirements, as well as all relevant accessibility and sustainability standards. Facilities are to be designed for a minimum lifespan of 40 years, incorporating energy efficiencies and high-performance building systems in accordance with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria.
