Organization overview and procurement intelligence available on paid plans.
The agency is seeking a video production firm to conceptualize, film, and produce a compelling short-form video storytelling package centered on prairie strips, a research-based conservation practice developed at the agency and now implemented nationwide. The project involves capturing farmer and landowner interviews, seasonal visuals of prairie strips, and providing both historical context of the practice's research origins and its future potential at the landscape scale.
Emphasis will be placed on real landscapes, seasonal variation, and first-person narratives, prioritizing authenticity over scripted or studio-based production. The ideal contractor will demonstrate prior experience producing documentary-style video content outdoors, particularly in working landscapes or active agricultural and conservation settings, as well as a track record of conducting interviews with farmers, landowners, or rural stakeholders in a respectful, relationship-based manner.
Film production will primarily take place on location at working farms with installed prairie strips across Iowa, with possible filming in surrounding states. The contractor must be able to accommodate variable outdoor conditions, including changing weather, seasonal factors, and ongoing farm operations. Comprehensive video production services are required, including pre-production planning, on-site filming, editing, and post-production work. Deliverables must include digital-ready products for use on web platforms, presentations, and outreach events, and must incorporate at least two rounds of review and revisions. Creative input on storytelling approach, visual choices, and pacing is expected.
