DESCRIPTION

The selected vendor will be responsible for providing comprehensive urban forestry strategy services. This will include developing detailed plans and strategies centered on the municipal tree inventory and broader urban forestry initiatives. A key component will be conducting a full inventory and assessment of public trees through GIS-based data collection techniques.

The project involves substantial engagement with residents, community groups, and stakeholders via surveys and outreach efforts to gather valuable input on urban forest priorities, concerns, and future management opportunities. The vendor will be expected to develop strategic recommendations for future tree planting and maintenance, taking into account species selection, prioritization of planting areas, and implementing pruning practices that promote long-term canopy health.

Analysis of the existing canopy cover and forecasting future canopy growth will be essential, utilizing inventory data and spatial analysis tools to estimate possible expansions and ecosystem benefits. Additionally, the services will include assessing climate risks and environmental stressors that affect the urban forest, as well as evaluating species suitability to enhance resilience against climate change, pests, and diseases.
