DESCRIPTION

The government authority in California is seeking a consultant to provide services for developing an Urban Forest Master Plan. The consultant will design a comprehensive plan and schedule, including the execution and presentation at public outreach meetings using various virtual platforms to elicit input, promote the project, and garner support from the community.

Responsibilities include reviewing all relevant materials such as data, policies, and reports related to urban forestry to assess program successes, gaps, and areas for improvement. The consultant will identify suitable and unsuitable planting areas, conduct a tree canopy assessment across diverse geographic boundaries (city boundary, neighborhoods, census blocks, and parcels), and recommend appropriate street and park tree species balancing criteria like drought tolerance, native status, root growth, height, and adaptability to future climate conditions.

Further tasks involve assessing the Trees & Division Program structure, function, and budget, maintaining project files as per the Work Plan, and developing an outreach plan targeting key stakeholder groups. Draft and final plan documents will be presented, with ongoing project documentation to ensure alignment with program goals.
