Albany Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Albany, New York is seeking construction services for the upgrade and installation of a dedicated IT network to support its HVAC control system. This effort involves implementing a reliable network infrastructure designed primarily to enable BACnet over IP communication using a robust TCP/IP backbone. The new network will accommodate both existing and future network controllers, forming the foundation for expanding direct digital controls (DDC) to additional systems as needed.
All work must conform to the approved drawings and specifications dated September 31, 2024, and September 13, 2024, as well as any design narratives, appendices, and approved revisions associated with the project. Adherence to specification section 013200 for construction documentation is required, and the contractor must utilize Autodesk Build as the construction management platform. Pre-mobilization activities include submission and approval of all required submittals listed in the submittal register.
The Albany VAMC campus encompasses approximately 859,000 square feet, consisting of the main hospital building, attached structures, and several detached buildings. The current building management system (BMS) network is the result of incremental projects and currently supports two different DDC vendors—Automated Logic Corporation and Trane—across multiple generations of controllers. Due to piecemeal network growth and increasing use of IP addresses, there are management and operational risks that this upgrade aims to mitigate by centralizing and standardizing the BMS network infrastructure.
