The government authority in Michigan is seeking a vendor to provide U-channel sign post services. Requirements include 3 lbs./ft. galvanized steel U-channel sign posts and 12-gauge square tubular galvanized steel posts, fabricated to meet specific length and cross-section criteria as outlined in the agency's Standard Plan Sign–200 (current edition).
Posts must be straight and possess a smooth, uniform finish, free from cracks, flaws, seams, blisters, ragged or imperfect edges, or any other defects that could impact strength, durability, or appearance. Bolt holes must meet the specified diameter and be accurately spaced per the MDOT Standard Plan. Holes must coincide with the posts’ centerline and be punched so that all surfaces remain smooth and even. Both bolt holes and cut-off ends require finishing to remove burrs and excess galvanization.
Anchor sleeves for square tubular galvanized steel posts must be 12-gauge, 1.5-foot length, fully hot-dip galvanized. Anchor posts must be 12-gauge, 4-foot length, fully hot-dip galvanized, and sign posts must be 12-gauge, 15-foot length, fully hot-dip galvanized, or an alternative specified length.
