DESCRIPTION

The City of Cupertino, California is seeking a qualified vendor to provide transient occupancy tax services. The selected vendor will conduct thorough reviews and engage with business operators to discuss requirements for records management and tax exemption protocols. Responsibilities include reviewing daily, monthly, and annual business records to ensure consistency with tax returns submitted to the city, as well as tracing gross revenue figures from tax returns to those reflected in the businesses' accounting records.

The vendor will also verify tax computations through transaction sampling, confirming that reported revenues and taxes collected match the accounting books and records of local hotels and motels. Additionally, the successful company will review exemption claim forms for proper supporting documentation, monitor and inform the city of regulatory changes or developments impacting local tax revenues, and provide timely updates on specific issues such as revenue tax sharing agreements.

On-call staff will assist the city with tax estimates for proposed projects, help with budget projections, and answer queries related to economic development, budgeting, and revenue collection.
