The Village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide traffic engineering services focused on reviewing and adjusting speed limits throughout the community. Currently, the village code does not specify a general default speed limit, and as such, a prima facie speed limit of 30 miles per hour is in effect. Adjustments to speed limits have only been applied to nine specific roadway segments.
The selected vendor will be expected to conduct a thorough review of the village’s roadway network, considering factors such as existing speed limits, land use patterns, and relevant planning documents. The goal is to assess the appropriateness of current speed limits and recommend any necessary adjustments to enhance safety and compliance throughout Glen Ellyn. This project will require a solid understanding of traffic engineering principles and familiarity with municipal roadway environments.
