Key responsibilities include the prompt creation of accurate claim files and the establishment of monetary reserves within two working days of the initial report. The vendor must audit medical bills to assess reasonableness and their relationship to the injury, conduct annual reviews for medical maintenance closures, and review medical-only claims for potential closure at least every thirty days.

Maintaining close communication with medical providers is required to ensure claimants receive proper care without overtreatment. The administrator must possess sufficient medical knowledge in line with industry standards and monitor treatment programs to confirm their relation to compensable injuries or illnesses.
