The City of California is seeking a qualified vendor to provide third party administrator services for its general liability program. Responsibilities include the administration of all general liability claims, handling intake, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement processes as well as providing litigation management support and comprehensive reporting functions.
Specific duties involve receiving and acknowledging claims, maintaining hardcopy and electronic claim files, conducting thorough investigations—including witness statements, site inspections, and review of records—and supporting litigation management by assigning and evaluating defense counsel in coordination with the city attorney’s office. The selected provider will manage settlement recommendations, negotiate within the city’s approved authority, and ensure city approval for all settlements.
Financial management, monthly, quarterly, and annual claims reporting, and trend analysis are key components of the scope. Maintaining open and timely communication with city staff, claimants, and other stakeholders is also emphasized. All questions concerning this RFP must be submitted by March 13, 2026.
