A government authority in Miami, Florida is seeking a vendor to provide services for the Summer Foods Service Program. The program requires the provision of meals meeting specific nutritional standards, including milk, fruit, vegetables, and grains. At least two milk choices must be offered: fat-free or low-fat (1%), both flavored and unflavored, with unflavored milk available at every meal.
Fruit servings may be composed from multiple sources, ensuring at least 1/8 cup as the smallest credible amount and allowing dried fruit and 100% fruit and vegetable juices to count towards daily needs, within specified limits. Vegetables should meet subgroup and weekly minimums, with leafy greens crediting as half their quantity. Grains served must be primarily whole grain or whole grain-rich, with cooked cereals and grains listed in cups.
The selected vendor will provide these meal components in compliance with program guidelines on serving sizes and nutritional requirements over the course of the summer program.
