City Of Malibu
Organization overview and procurement intelligence available on paid plans.
This project seeks an artist to design and create original, ocean-themed artwork on four storm drain catch basins located in highly visible public areas. The installations are part of a public education campaign to encourage viewers to connect the relationship between city streets, stormwater, and the ocean, while elevating local and regional art in community spaces.
The selected artist will reimagine storm drains as creative canvases. Artwork should be of high design quality, visually impactful, and must be durable for a minimum of four years. Artists are required to use high-quality, colorfast paints that can withstand harsh outdoor conditions. Artwork is to be applied exclusively to the concrete sidewalk, drain inlet lid, and gutter, and installations must be completed during dry weather conditions. All interested artists must submit any questions regarding the project by April 1, 2026.
