The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Kansas City District, is seeking information from qualified firms for design-build construction services at the Fairfax–Jersey Creek Levee Unit along the Missouri River in Kansas City, Kansas. The anticipated project involves designing and constructing approximately forty access manholes on existing seepage lines along the landside slope and berm of the levee. These manholes will enable regular inspection of the seepage collection system.
Firms expressing interest should demonstrate their capability to perform minimally invasive excavation, consistent with the requirement to leave excavated areas unattended for less than 24 hours in order to maintain levee stability. All drilling and excavation must comply with USACE Engineering Regulation 1110–1–1807, which stipulates that drilling be performed by or under the supervision of a Professional Engineer or Registered Geologist with at least five years of relevant experience and prior work on at least two dam or levee projects. A Drilling and Invasive Program Plan, prepared and approved by a suitably qualified professional, will be required prior to performing work. The project may require investigations and surveying by the contractor as needed, and all work must maintain the existing levee crest elevation and proper backfilling to ensure safety, especially during flood conditions.
Interested firms, including small businesses, are encouraged to provide information on their qualifications, capabilities, and prior experience for consideration as USACE moves forward with this potential project.
