DESCRIPTION

The government authority in New Jersey seeks a vendor to provide solar bus shelter program services, including the construction of a retaining wall system. The retaining wall will be a vertical wall of stepped height, constructed from precast concrete modular facing, tieback units, and installed in a straight configuration on a footing with a foundation drain, appropriate backfill, and coping.

Work includes the placement of non-woven geotextile at the back of the retaining wall unit, extending over the foundation and excavation area as described in the project drawings. A perforated structure foundation drainage pipe must be positioned behind the footing with a minimum gradient of 2 percent, incorporated within a drainage cell encased in geotextile. The contractor will be responsible for placing and compacting coarse aggregate free-draining backfill material in layers not exceeding 8 inches, as well as compacting soil backfill material above the drainage layer up to the finished ground level, also in layers not exceeding 8 inches. All backfill materials must be maintained at optimal or lesser moisture content to achieve required compaction density.
