DESCRIPTION

The government authority in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive study of signalized crosswalks. The selected firm will evaluate how the current transportation environment accommodates Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) at signalized intersections and recommend signalization changes aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and efficiency across intersections and the broader system as appropriate.

Tasks include a review of traffic congestion levels during peak periods, analysis of high-speed conditions during off-peak hours, and assessment of implemented measures such as Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPI) and selective installation of 'No Right on Red' signage. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing the entire system for appropriate signal and pedestrian timing, analyzing available congestion and crash data to prioritize segments, and developing and implementing approved timing schemes to enhance overall system safety and operation.
