Solutions must prioritize compliance and privacy while delivering a participant-friendly experience, making them suitable for use across a variety of research contexts, including regulated clinical trials and minimal-risk behavioral studies.

The ideal solution will support flexible payment structures such as tiered, milestone-based, or task-based payments aligned with IRB-approved protocols. Automated and approval-based payment issuance workflows should be incorporated, along with real-time tracking of payment status, including issued, delivered, redeemed, or expired payments, and automated alerts for failed or unredeemed transactions. The platform must feature intuitive administrative interfaces for research teams, as well as mobile-friendly and accessible experiences for participants.

Additional required features include support services for both participants and administrators—such as help desks and documentation—capabilities for tracking participant locations and tax statuses, and robust dashboards offering both participant-level and study-level insights. Integration with preferred survey distribution vendors via APIs, such as RedCap, is also desired.
