DESCRIPTION

The government authority in Connecticut is seeking a consultant to provide an assessment and recommendations for the public safety and government land mobile radio communication system.

The selected vendor will become thoroughly familiar with the Town's existing 460 MHz conventional radio communication voice system and its infrastructure, including system and site controllers, base stations, antennas, transmission lines, combiners, multicouplers, and microwave connectivity. The assessment will encompass emergency services communications, with emphasis on coverage reliability, in-building coverage, survivability, redundancy, dispatch operations, and overall system performance.

The consultant will review the current radio system, survey all relevant sites, analyze system coverage, and evaluate technical and operational alternatives. Responsibilities include identifying improvements for system performance, developing options for maintaining or replacing the system, and assessing cybersecurity risks related to IP connectivity, dispatch consoles, microwave backhaul, and remote access. A comprehensive evaluation of system resiliency and continuity of operations, including redundancy, backup power, site hardening, and disaster recovery, will also be required.

All questions related to this RFP must be submitted by April 13, 2026.
