Professional Auditing Services

The government authority located in Washington, North Carolina is seeking an independent auditor to provide professional auditing services. Interested vendors must have substantial governmental accounting and auditing experience, particularly in conducting audit services for local government entities. The selected audit firm will be responsible for applying necessary auditing procedures to render an opinion on the basic financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Auditors are expected to follow the standards outlined by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards. The mandate includes advising county staff on the applicability of new accounting and reporting standards as they take effect. The auditor’s opinion will pertain to the governmental activities, business-type activities, each major fund, and other fund information, which collectively make up the basic financial statements. Additional analytical data, including combining and individual statements and schedules, should be presented for informational purposes though not required for fair presentation.
