The City of North Port, FL is seeking professional architectural and engineering services to upgrade the roof and windows of City Hall for enhanced hurricane resilience. The existing roof, original to the facility, does not comply with current wind load requirements and has reached the end of its useful life. Additionally, although the windows have been re-sealed, available documentation indicates they are only rated to withstand Category 2 wind loads.
The selected firm will be responsible for designing and specifying improvements that include the installation of impact-resistant windows and doors, as well as replacing the current roof system to meet or exceed current wind speed requirements. The project also calls for wind protection for additional openings, such as vents, louvers, and exhaust fans, ensuring comprehensive mitigation of storm-related risks across the entire building envelope.
City Hall functions as the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies, making it critical to maintain continuous service and structural integrity. The planned upgrades aim to strengthen the building, minimize the risk of structural and content damage, and ensure the City's ability to respond effectively during severe weather events.
