DESCRIPTION

The organization seeks a vendor to provide a comprehensive passenger information system with provisions for future expansion to support on-demand ride services within specified geofenced areas. The system must feature open J1708 firmware and facilitate third-party software integration through APIs and relevant communication connectors. A single operator control unit (OCU) will manage all LED signs, including front, curb-side, and interior passenger displays.

The interior displays must utilize a full amber LED display, offering at least 8 x 96 pixel resolution, 5 mm LEDs, and a 7.62 mm pitch. The system should integrate seamlessly with other transit devices, such as electronic sign boards on buses, and be compatible for next-stop messaging. Additionally, the display units must interface with a voice announcement system, accept text–based commands, and operate on a 12 VDC ignition power supply.

Vendors must provide descriptions of their system’s integration capabilities and overall software architecture, including whether it is cloud-hosted and supports single sign-on. The system should also include voice annunciation for passenger stops.
