DESCRIPTION


The government authority in Virginia is seeking a qualified vendor to provide professional services related to natural resources assessment and management. The selected firm will perform assessments of aquatic habitats, including evaluations of microbenthic communities, fish, mussels, and aquatic threatened and endangered species. Additional tasks involve conducting habitat assessments, presence/absence surveys, and other detailed studies for various species, such as plants, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals.

The scope includes the preparation of biological and technical reports to support regulatory agency consultations and coordination. Vendors will also conduct location studies, develop conservation planning for threatened and endangered species, and identify suitable compensation sites. Further responsibilities include feasibility studies for compensation sites, hydraulic and soils analyses, water budgeting, stream classification, and wetland mitigation site assessments.

The contract also entails developing conceptual to final design plans for wetland and stream compensation projects, preparing construction estimates and schedules, and drafting special design drawings and provisions. Cost estimates for compensatory mitigation related to select roadway and bridge projects are also required. The contract duration will be three years, and all questions regarding the RFP must be submitted by April 13, 2026.
