The municipality seeks a consultant to support museum and program readiness for the local historical committee. Key deliverables include a comprehensive collections survey and assessment, focusing on the township’s artifacts, documents, and archival materials. The selected consultant will review current cataloging, storage, and preservation practices, providing actionable recommendations for improved organization, documentation, and long-term conservation. Additionally, the consultant will help identify priority items and interpretive materials suitable for exhibition.

The project also involves museum layout and exhibit planning, encompassing the assessment of the schoolhouse’s physical space and interpretive opportunities. Recommendations should enable a balance between exhibition and classroom needs, maximizing both display potential and educational utility. A digital integration strategy is also required, outlining ways the museum can connect visitors to digital archives through tools such as QR codes, digital displays, or printed guides.

Finally, the consultant will create an educational programming framework, offering suggestions for immersive field trip experiences that authentically recreate the student experience of the historic schoolhouse. This includes sample lesson concepts and frameworks for educators, designed to be practical and feasible for township staff and volunteers to deliver.
