A contractor is sought to enhance the Multi-Signal Scene Analyzer (MSSA) software for NRL Code 8124, with the goal of improving low probability of intercept (LPI) signal detection, processing efficiency, graphical user interface usability, and hardware integration. The contractor will be responsible for upgrading the detection and characterization algorithms within the MSSA software, specifically leveraging cyclostationary theory to reduce false positives and processing time in complex spectral environments involving multiple co-channel and adjacent channel interferers.
Key tasks include developing a comprehensive simulated signal suite—including DSSS, FH, OFDM, various PSK, MSK, and interfering signals—and combining these with recorded signal data provided by NRL Code 8124 to fully test the software's performance. Enhancements or development of new software modules will be required to meet mission-specific needs for LPI signal classification, especially in environments with known a priori characteristics.
The contractor must also optimize the MSSA software to efficiently utilize multi-core processors, assigning detection and characterization functions to leverage hardware capabilities for improved accuracy and reduced processing times. Performance improvements will be validated through processing timing benchmarks and established signal detection and characterization measurements.
