The Wilmington Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center seeks the services of qualified architectural and engineering firms for the Morgue HVAC Design project at its facility in Wilmington, Delaware. The objective is to provide full design and construction-phase services for replacing the HVAC distribution system serving the morgue and related spaces in Building 1.
Project responsibilities include conducting thorough site investigations covering architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental aspects. Firms will prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and third-party cost estimates, while also delivering an infection control risk assessment and construction management support throughout the project duration. The scope encompasses removal and installation of ductwork, ceiling grids, light fixtures, tiles, and a six-compartment refrigerator unit, as well as updating non-compliant fire protection and alarm systems as necessary. Additional requirements are integration of direct digital controls into the existing Building Automation System, asbestos abatement design, comprehensive infection control and dust prevention planning, and close coordination with VA staff.
All design work must integrate peer-reviewed fire and safety recommendations, with all feedback addressed in final submissions. Planning and execution are to be performed in a manner that minimizes disruption to ongoing medical center operations and ensures compliance with all VA guidelines and standards.
