Organization overview and procurement intelligence available on paid plans.
The contractor is required to provide comprehensive medical coding services in support of an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 encounters annually. This volume may fluctuate based on facility demand, staffing, and operational needs. Work involves assigning current industry standard codes after careful review of health record documentation for all outpatient, procedures, and ancillary encounters.
The contractor must code by reviewing electronic health records, covering outpatient services including radiology, lab, and ancillary cases. Additional responsibilities include abstracting identified data items and entering them into the local EHR and encoder programs. Coders will utilize national encoder products and communication tools to provide standardized justifications to billing staff for unbillable outpatient encounters, as well as ensuring all work is clearly attributed to individual coders.
Should any coded data be questioned, the contractor will be responsible for re-reviewing and either updating or substantiating codes with proper references and rules, including when billing edits, denials, or retrospective reviews occur.
