DESCRIPTION
The State of South Carolina is seeking a qualified vendor to provide Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) services. The selected contractor must fulfill all federally mandated and state-required responsibilities for recovery audit contractors, including the identification and recovery of overpayments, as well as the identification of underpayments within Medicaid claims.
Key responsibilities include developing provider-friendly tools to facilitate document transmission for review, conducting regular outreach and training to encourage compliant billing practices, and creating necessary technology such as a document management system and data warehouse to maintain detailed records pertaining to claims, encounters, and provider audits. The contractor will also be responsible for project management activities, including project kickoff, documentation management, and preparing comprehensive project management plans. All audit protocols, methodologies, procedures, and communications with providers used for overpayment recovery and underpayment identification must be approved and implemented effectively.
