Meals on Wheels Shelf-Stable Meal Box Supplies

The government authority located in Clinton Township, Michigan seeks a vendor to provide shelf-stable meal box supplies for the Meals on Wheels program. The requirement is for approximately 1,500 boxes to be delivered twice per year, with the potential for a third delivery if there are increased unplanned program closures.

Each box must include four individual shelf-stable meals, each designed to be prepared as a complete meal. Meals must meet specific nutritional requirements, including portions of fruits or vegetables, grains (with at least half being whole grains), and additional components such as 100% Vitamin C juice and a variety of vegetables. Specific serving sizes are detailed, such as ½ cup of cooked, canned or chopped fruits/vegetables, ¼ cup dried fruit, 6 oz juice, and appropriate amounts of grains or grain products per meal. Boxes will be delivered to five designated locations.

Vendors must ensure that no food items are mouldy, contaminated, show evidence of pest tampering, or are expired or close to expiring (less than three months from delivery).
