A county in North Carolina is seeking proposals from experienced and qualified consulting firms to conduct a comprehensive market compensation strategy study for its staff. The selected firm will analyze market rates for various positions, assess appropriate salary range minimums and maximums, and review the county's pay-for-performance program to ensure effective recognition and reward of exceptional employee performance.
The project will include examining the design and suitability of career development ladders and incentive approaches, such as recognition for educational attainment, professional certifications, or proficiency in additional languages. The consultant will perform an internal pay equity analysis and provide recommendations to enhance the existing staff compensation structure, ensuring both internal equity and external competitiveness. Additional tasks include identifying relevant market comparisons, evaluating the current salary structure against public and private sector entities of similar size within the region, and suggesting adjustments based on market trends, salary compression, and geographic influences.
Furthermore, the study will assess statewide or regional standards used for compensation decisions, offer an evaluation of the current compensation and classification procedures, and recommend best practices and alternative options. Internal relationship guidelines will be developed to support the establishment of a fair and equitable compensation structure for all job classifications within the county.
