The State of West Virginia is seeking a comprehensive internet filtering and reporting solution for its K-12 educational networks. The solution must offer a centralized, web-based management interface and facilitate detailed logging of all web browsing activity. This logging should include complete URLs, timestamps, and client device IP addresses to ensure thorough oversight and security compliance.
The desired system should seamlessly integrate with the existing network infrastructure and be deployable as either a cloud-based or client software solution. This will ensure consistent application of filtering policies, regardless of whether user devices are on the internal network or accessing the internet externally. The solution must also maintain filtering or block internet access entirely in the event of a gateway failure to prevent unfiltered access.
Additional requirements include the ability to identify and block proxy websites or applications, pre-populated categorization of web content, and the enforcement of Safe Search or Safety Mode on major search engines. The solution must also ensure that the source IP addresses of client computers remain unchanged, and the annual per-student pricing should include all software updates and technical support.
