The United States Army is seeking industry feedback on the emerging architecture for Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2). This initiative, led by the Army Contracting Command in coordination with the Command and Control Future Capability Directorate and Capability Program Executive Command, Control, Communications, and Network, centers on developing a composable, multi-layered technology stack that offers commanders seamless access to application and data services from the cloud to the tactical edge.
Recent battlefield lessons have highlighted the necessity of rapid detection, synthesis, and exploitation of digital signatures, reinforcing the importance of data-driven decision-making and algorithmic warfare. The NGC2 ecosystem aims to enable Army units with flexible, interoperable solutions that leverage both military and commercial networks to maximize operational effectiveness.
The Army is specifically requesting feedback from industry partners regarding the composability of the system, data layer architecture, and readiness for software deployment. Input will inform ongoing prototyping, experimentation, and updates to the NGC2 Characteristics of Need, ensuring the architecture continues to evolve in alignment with technological advancements and operational requirements.
