The City of Vallejo, California is seeking a qualified provider for independent police auditor services. The selected vendor will be responsible for auditing use of force and bias incidents, reviewing investigatory reports, and making recommendations regarding police policies and training. The auditor will also assist the commission in preparing its annual report and conduct public outreach and education.
Responsibilities include reviewing all independent investigative and internal affairs reports related to any serious incidents involving sworn officers, as well as advising the City on matters concerning police-community relations. The auditor will review all final investigatory reports—whether conducted by an independent investigator or internal affairs—and provide recommendations to the commission and the chief of police. Additionally, the vendor must be present during interviews of witnesses and subjects in any investigation of a serious incident or other incidents assigned to an independent investigator or internal affairs.
