SUMMARY

RFI for IBM mainframe as a service and software, including support and management for New Jersey agency.

DESCRIPTION

A New Jersey agency is seeking information from vendors capable of providing IBM Mainframe as a Service (MFaaS) and associated software solutions. The current environment utilizes IBM Z16 Mainframes running software from 22 different original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), all of which require procurement, installation, management, and ongoing operations support.

The agency's mainframe solution is currently managed by a combination of full-time employees and contractors, primarily working remotely during standard business hours, with provisions for on-site presence during emergencies or hardware upgrades. The selected provider will be responsible for ensuring seamless completion of all customer jobs, minimizing resource conflicts through effective logical and physical system resource management and monitoring.

Additionally, the vendor is expected to maintain high availability of critical mainframe applications by leveraging performance monitoring tools and automation, and to provide comprehensive support—both virtual and on-site—24/7/365. This support is essential to maintain uptime and strengthen the security posture of the agency's mainframe environment.
