The Defense Health Agency is seeking industry feedback on solutions for deploying the Military Health Systems (MHS) GENESIS Electronic Health Record (EHR) to additional federal agencies. The agency is especially interested in 'white-glove' deployment methodologies that can support the expansion of this modernized EHR system.
The Department of Defense's Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM) program was established to field a configurable and scalable EHR system, replacing legacy healthcare systems with an off-the-shelf solution that emphasizes sustainability, flexibility, interoperability, and improved continuity of care. The selected EHR solution, MHS GENESIS, is an integrated inpatient and outpatient system that enables access to shared data, user interfaces, workflows, and business rules across the military health system.
MHS GENESIS integrates commercial off-the-shelf components from multiple vendors, resulting in a complex solution comprising 12 major subsystems and using 81 interfaces across over 1,000 endpoints. The system processes at least 20 million messages daily, supports more than 975 workflows and over 200 user roles, and serves 194,000 users and 9.6 million beneficiaries worldwide. The Defense Health Agency seeks input from industry partners who have the expertise and tools necessary for supporting large-scale, complex EHR deployments with a focus on seamless integration and high standards of service.
