The government authority in North Carolina is seeking a vendor to provide harm reduction program services, including the deployment of trained and certified peer support specialists to operate the county harm reduction program. The provider will be responsible for ensuring timely and continuous staffing, and must establish contingency plans for alternate staffing structures when regular staff are unavailable.
Required training courses, including those on bloodborne pathogens, must be completed prior to employment and maintained annually to uphold health department accreditation. The vendor will deliver safe disposal training, encompassing bloodborne pathogens and syringe/naloxone disposal, to both internal county staff and external groups, and must administer post-test evaluations and prompt data entry for all training events.
The selected provider will implement public health strategies focused on disease prevention, facilitate the distribution of harm reduction supplies and safer use education, and provide access to naloxone along with overdose prevention training. Additionally, the vendor will organize community syringe clean-up events to support overall harm reduction efforts.
