The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking sources capable of providing GDSFactory+ Software and associated maintenance support. This software is crucial for integrated circuit design within NIST research laboratories, supporting both on-premise and off-premise computing and data storage environments. The intended procurement includes GDSFactory+, an open-source Python library that enables programmatic design and automation of integrated circuits, particularly for photonics, quantum, analog, and MEMS devices.
GDSFactory+ allows users to generate complex layouts, perform Design Rule Checks (DRC) and Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) validation, conduct simulations, and create industry-standard GDSII fabrication files. The solution streamlines the workflow from parametric layout generation through simulation and fabrication, increasing the accessibility, scalability, and efficiency of hardware design within NIST’s clean room facilities in Gaithersburg and Boulder.
The acquisition aims to deliver a per-user, two-year license for GDSFactory+—encompassing schematic, layout, simulation, LVS and DRC capabilities—along with dedicated customer support for ten users, for the period of June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2028. NIST anticipates this will improve standardization, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among its research community. Interested parties are encouraged to submit company details and capability statements as soon as possible.
