DESCRIPTION

The government authority located in Honolulu, Hawaii is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive fiber optic and network modernization services. The scope of work includes furnishing, installing, labeling, testing, and certifying multi-mode, armored fiber optic cable, along with connectors and enclosures. All equipment must meet or exceed referenced performance standards and may include products from Optical Cable Corporation, Corning, CommScope, or equivalent manufacturers, subject to approval.

Vendors are required to provide and install all necessary termination devices, such as fiber distribution panels, bulkheads or couplers, and fiber splice modules. Inter-building cable must be concealed in conduit or existing ducts, except for cases where aerial cable is attached to utility poles. All cable splices should be housed in maintenance vaults, handholes, or pull boxes. Modern splicing techniques must be used to prevent water intrusion at cable splices and sheath openings. Hardware for aerial installations must be matched to the specific cable type, span, and tension requirements. Additionally, OSP cable extensions exceeding 50 feet into buildings are to be spliced to indoor-rated cable, and all fiber-optic connector splicing must utilize fusion-based techniques with factory terminated pigtails on each end.
