DESCRIPTION

The government authority in New Milford, Connecticut, is seeking engineering services for the design and installation of code-compliant fire hydrants. The selected firm will provide professional services that include reviewing existing site plans, utility drawings, and fire protection reports to ensure compatibility with proposed fire hydrant installations.

Scope of work involves identifying and designating appropriate connection points to existing water mains and specifying necessary components such as tapping sleeves and valve assemblies. The project requires assessment of the current exterior fire protection infrastructure to identify deficiencies and develop a comprehensive, code-compliant design for new hydrant installation.

Additional responsibilities include preparing erosion control, grading, and restoration plans, detailing excavation limits, backfill materials, and surface repair procedures following underground work. The engineering firm will also assist the local school district in securing all necessary permits and approvals, including those from water utilities and the fire department. A hydraulic analysis for each proposed hydrant to verify required fire flow is also part of the project requirements.
