The government authority in New Milford, CT is seeking engineering services to enhance its fire protection infrastructure. The primary objectives are to assess the current exterior fire protection systems, identify deficiencies, and develop a comprehensive, code-compliant design for the installation of new fire hydrants. This includes coordination with the local water authority to ensure seamless execution during the bidding and construction phases.

The selected engineering firm will be responsible for conducting or subcontracting a topographic and utility survey to verify existing field conditions. This survey will cover the precise horizontal and vertical locations of the existing water main, other underground utilities, and surface topography, facilitating accurate design and grading. Additional services include conducting on-site inspections to evaluate hydrant coverage and water supply infrastructure, assessing existing water main capacity and pressure, and confirming adequate flow to meet hydrant demands in coordination with the water utility.

The scope of work also requires the development of erosion control, grading, and restoration plans. These plans will detail excavation limits, backfill materials, and necessary surface repairs such as paving and landscaping following underground construction. This project aims to ensure New Milford’s fire protection systems are modernized, efficient, and compliant with relevant codes.
