SUMMARY

Procurement of a comprehensive electronic fare management system, including smart cards, hardware, and compatible software, for use in Ontario, Canada.

DESCRIPTION

Ontario is seeking a qualified vendor to provide a comprehensive Electronic Fare Management System (EFMS) for its public transit operations. The system will incorporate a range of components, including smart cards (photo, accessible, and test variants), fareboxes, ticket vending machines, platform validators, handheld validation and inspection units, customer service terminals, and a web platform.

The EFMS must support both cash and smart card payments, printing tickets and transfer slips as needed, and integrating seamlessly with smart card readers. Application software for the system should operate on Ontario’s standard desktop suite without significant reconfiguration, and mobile applications must employ responsive web design to ensure accessibility across devices. Vendors are expected to outline their experience with card-based fare systems, providing descriptions and customer examples.

Questions regarding this opportunity must be submitted by February 12, 2026.
