Austin Energy is seeking a distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) that delivers comprehensive, end-to-end functionality for managing distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed solution must enable the effective management of existing and future DER assets, whether these assets are connected directly to the distribution system or located behind the meter, serving both residential and commercial customer segments. The system should support a flexible, resilient, and customer-centric energy ecosystem.
Key requirements include seamless integration with Austin Energy’s current on-premises platforms such as SCADA, ADMS, billing systems (CC&B), and GIS, facilitating real-time grid operations and locational grid services. The DERMS should provide capabilities from customer enrollment and forecasting to real-time locational control and settlement, along with actionable, real-time or near-real-time feedback on energy usage and curtailment opportunities.
The solution must offer advanced analytics, including the use of AI and machine learning for forecasting and optimization. It should also ensure interoperability with industry standards and third-party platforms and support robust cybersecurity and data governance in line with utility best practices. Additionally, vendors are expected to supply budgetary and implementation schedule estimates for the necessary tools and consulting services to deploy the system. The goal is to provide a scalable and interoperable platform that facilitates customer participation in DER programs and enhances overall grid reliability.
