The City of Salem, Massachusetts is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive destination management and marketing organization services. The selected vendor will collaborate with local partners to lead initiatives that support the sustainability of the tourism economy, including advocacy efforts for the community's tourism sector.
Responsibilities include assisting with the implementation of programs, policies, ordinances, and measures related to travel, tourism, marketing, and visitor services. The vendor will develop and maintain a strategic plan for tourism planning, development, and marketing, incorporating sustainable tourism and destination stewardship principles as needed.
Additional duties involve maintaining active social media accounts and a website featuring a calendar of events, coordinating this information with other event websites in Salem, and ensuring digital content is accessible in terms of both language and visuals. The vendor will respond to information requests, press inquiries, and provide directions as needed. Organizing and implementing familiarization trips for press and tour operators is also required. The contract term will be for three years.
