DESCRIPTION

The government authority located in Redwood City, California is seeking services for data centre planning and conceptual design. The selected vendor will assign a senior data centre subject matter expert to lead planning and advisory efforts, ensuring effective coordination throughout the project.

Key responsibilities include conducting stakeholder interviews and site reviews to assess current and future needs, as well as performing a comprehensive inventory of existing assets such as racks, cabinets, servers, storage, switches, firewalls, UPS systems, and cabling. The firm will develop detailed infrastructure requirements that address electrical, mechanical, backup battery, PDU, cable management, fire suppression or risk mitigation, and space planning aspects.

The vendor is expected to produce conceptual layouts covering rack placement, airflow strategies, and redundancy models. Additionally, the development of a Basis of Design will be required, documenting all requirements, assumptions, and roles involved. Coordination with structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines is essential, and the service provider must identify potential risks, constraints, and long–lead items. A high–level milestone schedule and implementation sequencing strategy must also be prepared.
