SUMMARY

This RFP seeks a qualified provider for crisis media relations and emergency public communication services, emphasizing rapid deployment and misinformation management for a Michigan college.

DESCRIPTION

The College seeks a vendor to provide crisis communication services, including on-call crisis media relations and emergency public communication support that can be rapidly deployed during high-risk, time-sensitive, or reputationally significant events. The scope involves direct engagement with media outlets at the local, regional, and national levels, triaging media inquiries, and coordinating response efforts. Vendors will also be responsible for preparing briefing materials, spokesperson interview support, and providing ongoing public relations services.

The service must effectively manage intense or adversarial media attention, respond swiftly to breaking or emergency situations, and counter misinformation or disinformation. Support for leadership includes disciplined, legally sound messaging and assistance in de-escalation and transition planning as crises resolve. Additional requirements include monitoring traditional and online media for misinformation, developing corrective messaging strategies, coordinating with general counsel, providing real-time guidance, interview coaching, development and refinement of crisis communication protocols, and recommendations for resuming normal communications operations.

Respondents must demonstrate crisis communications expertise with proven experience leading media responses for higher education institutions, operating under pressure and scrutiny, and managing misinformation or hostile media environments. The contract period is one year, with an expectation for rapid activation, including availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays. All questions regarding this RFP must be submitted by March 2, 2026.
