The state of Missouri is seeking a qualified crisis communications consultant to provide expert support in crisis planning, response, and reputation management. The selected consultant will be engaged on an as-needed, on-call basis to assist the agency in preparing for, managing, and responding to incidents that could affect public trust, community relations, and operational continuity.
Key responsibilities include developing and refining crisis communications plans, delivering media training for agency leadership and staff, and establishing effective communication protocols for various crisis scenarios. During crisis events, the consultant will serve as a trusted advisor, providing immediate support for urgent communications needs, drafting press releases and media statements, and offering guidance on messaging across digital platforms such as social media and agency websites. Additionally, the consultant will advise on media relations and best practices for handling press inquiries.
Post-crisis, the consultant will help guide reputation recovery efforts by recommending long-term strategies and supporting monitoring of public sentiment and media coverage, ensuring the agency is equipped to restore trust and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
