SUMMARY

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking firms for maintenance dredging at Isle au Haut Thoroughfare, Maine, requiring demonstrated tidal dredging expertise and experience with open water material placement.

DESCRIPTION

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District seeks interested and capable firms for the maintenance dredging of the Isle au Haut Thoroughfare Federal Navigation Project in Isle au Haut, Maine. The project involves mechanically dredging approximately 3,355 cubic yards of highly compacted coarse sand, gravel, cobbles, and isolated small boulders from a channel 1,200 feet in length, 75 feet wide, and 6 feet deep (MLLW), with an additional 1-foot advance maintenance and 1-foot allowable overdepth. Dredged materials will be placed at the Flake Island Disposal Site, benefiting local marine habitats.

Contractors should demonstrate recent experience (within ten years) with mechanical dredging in tidal waters of similar depth and production rate (minimum 4,000 cubic yards per 30 calendar days), as well as experience with open water placement during fall, winter, and spring months. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations is required, including adherence to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Safety and Health Requirements Manual. Interested companies must submit a capabilities package detailing relevant project experience, business classification, proposed equipment, team composition, and bonding capacity. Subcontractor qualifications and contact information for past projects should also be included. The anticipated construction period is fall 2026 to winter 2027, with the allowable dredging window between September 15 and April 1 to minimize ecological impacts.

Firms interested in being considered for this opportunity must respond by April 17, 2026. Registration in SAM.gov will be a requirement for bidding.
