SUMMARY

The U.S. Navy seeks the construction of two new FF(X)–class frigates, with work to include all aspects from planning through delivery. Ingalls Shipbuilding is the intended contractor, but other qualified companies may submit proposals.

DESCRIPTION

The United States Navy plans to award a contract for the construction and delivery of the first two FF(X)–class frigates. These new small blue–water surface combatant ships are designed to operate within a bimodal or high–low fleet architecture and will complement larger, multi–mission capable vessels. The scope of work includes pre–construction planning, shipyard preparation, procurement of materials, all construction activities, engineering, testing, sea trials, systems integration, and orders for provisioned items.

The Navy currently intends to contract on a sole source basis with Huntington Ingalls Industries–Ingalls Shipbuilding, as they possess the specialized capabilities required for these vessels. However, other qualified sources are invited to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations for consideration.
