The Province of Alberta is seeking a vendor to provide a secure, cloud-based chemical management system designed to replace its existing legacy platform. The new solution must deliver comprehensive inventory management capabilities, offering enhanced features for tracking, reporting, and auditing the usage and storage of chemicals. It should support compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and provide scalable access for a variety of user groups, including laboratory technicians, faculty, staff, students, health and safety personnel, and facilities management.
Key requirements include real-time management of chemical inventories by location and type, tracking of container locations with optional floor plan mapping, and integrated approval workflows for chemical access, acquisition, or disposal. The system should support label scanning and printing in multiple formats and sizes, provide a searchable library with pre-populated metadata and expiry tracking, and enable full user access to view documents. Scalability to manage at least 4,000 chemicals, with the ability to expand, along with integration capabilities for Single Sign-On (SSO) and an intuitive interface for all users, are essential.
The selected vendor will also be responsible for delivering testing, training, and deployment support to ensure the successful implementation of the new platform. The contract will span a five-year period. Interested vendors are required to submit any questions regarding the project by January 27, 2026.
