The State of Michigan is seeking a cloud-based software asset management solution to efficiently discover, inventory, and optimize software licenses across on-premises, SaaS, and cloud environments. The Software as a Service (SaaS) platform should deliver a comprehensive approach to IT asset management, supporting the discovery and centralized management of all software assets, including classification, installation locations, and version control.
The desired solution will empower the state to improve cost efficiency, ensure license compliance, enhance security, and strengthen its position during vendor negotiations. Key features include automated asset discovery across physical and virtual environments, benchmarking capabilities such as pricing analysis, license optimization for both desktop and server environments, and tracking of software licenses at the individual user level. The platform should also provide robust cost reporting by department or business unit, identify potential cost savings ahead of software renewals, and facilitate consistent, effective software license management across multiple strategic vendors such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and VMware.
Additional requirements include a single, intuitive user interface; integration with Microsoft Active Directory and/or Intune for user authentication; and the capability to calculate license consumption according to the Oracle Processor license definition. The solution must offer automated event notifications, role-based customizable dashboards, guided workflows, and comprehensive, easy-to-navigate reporting features.
