DESCRIPTION

The government authority in Ketchikan, Alaska is seeking a vendor to develop the 2026 Central Recreation District Master Plan. The scope of work includes assessing and improving public recreation areas such as parks, fields, beaches, recreation and aquatic facilities, the Heritage Center, and the downtown district. The overarching goal is to establish a unified vision that enhances recreation and visitor resources through capital improvements, upgraded public amenities, beautification, wayfinding and interpretive signage, landscaping, and public artwork.

The selected vendor will evaluate existing facilities and property plans, taking into account zoning applicability and adjacencies, along with engaging user interest groups. Documentation and mapping of key project features across specified parcels are required, including an evaluation of the types and styles of signage. The project also involves assessing road safety through crash data and pedestrian/vehicle impact analysis, with safety concerns to be mapped geographically. Additionally, the contractor will analyze recreation trends—factoring in demographic shifts among various user groups—with findings presented in tabular form.
